Jizo Garden, three-channel video installation (60 min.) 1992
The installation was comprised of 7 Jizo icons, clear glass globes, large beach pebbles and rock formations and fourteen video monitors. Three discrete channels of video were displayed on the monitors which were flush mounted in the pebbles facing upward.Each channel records a slowly vanishing agrarian culture undergoing great change on the islands of Honshu, Kyushu and Shikoku in Japan. This installation traveled to nine different districts in Scotland and was exhibited at The Center for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow. Funded by the Scottish Arts Council Traveling Gallery.
